MIDLAND, MI — This holiday season, consider giving high school students the gift of a free-enterprise camp experience. Northwood University has opened registration for its 2025 Learning About Business (LAB) Week, a five-day summer camp set for June 15-20 at the Midland campus. This immersive camp offers a unique opportunity for young people to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and gain valuable business skills.

“LAB Week is the perfect gift for high school students passionate about innovation and entrepreneurship,” said Patrick McElgunn, director of the NU Idea Center and coordinator of LAB Week. “It’s also ideal for those who would benefit from an entrepreneurial mindset, which is valued across all fields and can boost educational performance.”

LAB Week provides a dynamic learning environment where students engage in hands-on activities, workshops, and real-world case studies led by Northwood faculty and industry experts. Highlights include a “Shark Tank” style event where participants pitch start-up ideas to a panel of business leaders. The program also emphasizes teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

“Our goal is to ignite the entrepreneurial spirit in these students, helping them realize their potential to make a meaningful impact,” McElgunn explained. He added that opening registration early gives families and friends the chance to gift an unforgettable experience to aspiring entrepreneurs.

Open to high school students entering grades 9-12, LAB Week is limited to 50 participants to ensure a personalized experience. Early registration is encouraged as spots are expected to fill quickly.
