Lead will host their annual Mother & Daughter Event on Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Freeland SportsZone.

FREELAND, MI — Girls and their female mentors will have the opportunity to bond and boost their confidence through STEM activities at Lead’s annual Mother & Daughter Event. Taking place on Thursday, Nov. 12, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Freeland SportsZone, the event promises a night of learning, connection, and hands-on fun.

Sponsored by Members First Credit Union, the event is open to girls aged 6-18 and their female mentors, which can include mothers, grandmothers, aunts, or any woman serving in a supportive role. The evening will feature a variety of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) activities designed to foster problem-solving skills and encourage resilience. Participants will also engage in confidence and communication exercises aimed at strengthening their relationships.

Kelsey Snyder, Lead’s Program Director, highlighted the value of the event: “My favorite part of this event each year is seeing the intersection of confidence and STEM come to life with the girls and their mentors. Our activities have components of trial and error to help strengthen that resiliency muscle.”

Past attendees have praised the event for the quality time it offers. One mother from the 2023 event shared, “This event is a great chance to spend quality time with your daughter and have fun doing so!” Another participant added, “My favorite part was bonding closer to my mom!”

Tickets are available for $25 per adult and $15 per child through October, with the cost covering dinner, STEM activities, and a take-home project. Scholarships are also available for families in need.
