STARS is offering free bus rides on Election Day, Nov. 5, to help Saginaw residents get to the polls without transportation barriers.

SAGINAW, MI — As Election Day approaches on Nov. 5, the Saginaw Transit Authority Regional Services (STARS) is making it easier for residents to get to the polls by offering free rides on all fixed bus routes. This initiative ensures that transportation is not a barrier to voting, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

In addition to free rides on fixed routes, STARS will provide complimentary LIFT service rides for Gold Card holders and residents aged 60 and older. This effort aims to increase voter turnout by making polling locations accessible for all eligible voters.

“We are excited to once again be offering free rides on Election Day,” said Amy Bidwell, Interim Executive Director of STARS. “Voting is so important, and we want to do our part to make sure that transportation is not a limitation.”

Residents taking advantage of STARS’ services can also use Routes 3 and 11 to reach the Saginaw County Early Voting site at 618 Cass Street, near the Saginaw County Courthouse. Early voting is available every day until Nov. 3. However, regular fares will apply for bus rides to the early voting location before Election Day.
