Saginaw ISD appoints new school-based mental health program director

SAGINAW, MI – The Saginaw Intermediate School District (ISD) is excited to announce the appointment of Emily Rau as the new School-Based Mental Health Program Director. This newly created role is designed to strengthen mental health services and support across the district, and Emily’s extensive background in social work and educational support positions her as an ideal fit for the position.

In her new role, Emily will work closely with the Special Education and Instructional Services Departments to coordinate and oversee School-Based Mental Health Services. She will be responsible for managing mental health-related grants, including 31n, 31p, 31aa, and 31o, and will lead a dedicated team of Mental Health Practitioners. Additionally, Emily will collaborate with local, regional, and state partners to enhance comprehensive mental health support for students throughout Saginaw County.

Emily Rau holds a Bachelor of Social Work from Michigan State University and a Master of Social Work from the University of Michigan. Over the past six years, she has gained valuable experience in various educational roles, including as a Restorative Justice Facilitator and Program Coordinator, and as a Student Support Specialist. Her expertise includes behavior interventions and social-emotional learning.
