SAGINAW, Mich. — The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Great Lakes Bay Region is moving forward with a new teen center in Saginaw, a project leaders say is intended to create a dedicated space for older youth to access academic support, mentoring and career-focused programming during after-school hours.
The groundbreaking ceremony took place on 4 p.m. Friday, April 10, at 1781 Fordney St. in Saginaw, inviting community members and Boys & Girls Club alumni to mark the start of the project.

According to the organization’s announcement, the new center will offer academic support, career readiness programming, mentorship and enrichment activities. CEO Lynn Pavlawk described the project as an important step for the organization and the youth it serves, saying the center is meant to inspire confidence, help teens build connections and open doors to future success.
The investment stands out because it is aimed specifically at teenagers, a group that often has fewer age-appropriate after-school options than younger children. In a city where youth-serving agencies, schools and nonprofits have continued to stress the need for safe and consistent support systems, the teen center is positioned as both a programming hub and a longer-term community investment.
