SAGINAW, Mich. — The Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra will trade traditional concert-hall expectations for arena-rock anthems when it opens its 2026-27 season with the music of Queen and Journey.
“We Will Rock You: The Music of Queen and Journey” is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, at the Temple Theatre in downtown Saginaw. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with the concert beginning at 7:30 p.m.
The performance will bring together the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra, rock-symphonic ensemble Jeans ’n Classics and the Saginaw Choral Society.
Music Director Fouad Fakhouri will lead the orchestra in symphonic arrangements drawn from two of rock music’s most recognizable catalogs.
The program is expected to include Queen favorites such as “Bohemian Rhapsody,” “We Will Rock You,” “We Are the Champions” and “Don’t Stop Me Now,” along with Journey songs including “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Anyway You Want It.”
The collaboration is designed to give longtime orchestra patrons a different kind of concert while also attracting listeners who may be more familiar with classic rock than symphonic programming.
Jeans ’n Classics specializes in performances that pair rock vocalists and musicians with professional orchestras. The Saginaw Choral Society will add a large vocal component to arrangements that rely heavily on layered harmonies.
The concert opens a season that also includes Halloween and holiday programs, a young people’s concert and additional classical performances at the Temple Theatre.
The Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra has served the Great Lakes Bay Region for decades, presenting professional orchestral music and educational programming while using the historic Temple Theatre as its primary performance home.
Tickets for the Sept. 26 opener start at $32 including fees, according to the orchestra, with student discounts available. Additional seating levels are available at higher prices.
The Temple Theatre is located at 201 N. Washington Ave. in Saginaw.
